Dr. Glick Arrives In Sierra Leone for the First Time

Shared are excerpts from Dr. Myron Glick's spring trip with fellow JRCHC provider Paul Violanti to advance our project in Sierra Leone.  While a supporter of the project for many years, this was Dr. Glick's first time to go there in person.  While there, he shared his experiences and perspectives.

Here is his first travel reflection:

After 20 hrs on 3 different flights, a 30 minute boat ride from
airport to Freetown and an 8 hr jeep ride today we have finally
arrived at our destination this evening in Koidu.

All is well. Phebian and her team including her pastor, her niece who
will cook for us, a driver ( crazy roads) and a AK 47 toting
policeman/bodyguard loaned to us by the Vice President of Sierra Leone
and Paul and I all arrived safely here.

What a beautiful country!

Tomorrow we will visit various people in Kono and visit hospital and
meet with folks who could build the clinic for us.

Tuesday through Friday we will do one day medical clinics in the 4
villages that Phebian has targeted for long term outreach and community
development.

Over the weekend Paul and I hope to visit the Wesleyan Mission
Hospital in northern Sierra Leone about 8 hrs from Koidu in order to
build a relationship and learn more about logistical issues related to
starting a clinic.

While we are visiting the hospital next weekend Phebian will travel
ahead of us back to Freetown to unload the crate that is supposed to
come on Friday.

Phebian is doing great. What a privilege to work along side her. She
is an amazing and courageous woman.

So keep us in your prayers this coming week. We want to honor God and
see this mission become a reality and be a longterm blessing to the
people of the Kono District of Sierra Leone.

Sincerely.

Myron
